Oct 29 - Pickensville, Alabama

So we have crossed into Alabama, and on the Ten-Tom there is a phone booth someone has placed there to mark the crossing of the state line.

Pickensville anchorage was very nice, with a large Corp of Engineers park that we could access for walks. The bay had quite a large flock of Pelicans that would swim or fly by occasionally. We also took advantage of our longer stay here to put the dinghy back in the water for a tour of the bay and to access shore.

A group of sailboats arrived on the second day and had their drone up and they sent us a nice picture of us all in the anchorage.

With a three day stay here we did move around a fair bit on the anchor during the different wind changes. This unfortunately caused our chain to somehow snag a stump or tree that must be on the bottom. We were determined not to lose an anchor again. After a number of attempts to pull and swing the rode in different directions we still could not pull up the anchor. Our next step was to have Serenity II pull the anchor up with the trip line. With the anchor out of the water and disconnected and placed on our bow we again tried pulling at different angles to retrieve what is just the chain now. Again no luck. So we had Serenity II pull the rode from the anchor end and surprisingly, but certainly with still strong resistance he was able to pull the rode backwards. This entailed  pulling all the rode out of our locker and it all ended up on Serenity II's bow. Nothing lost but we will recover everything in the next anchorage.
