The Keg

Today was the shortest travel day yet. From the outskirts of Kingston to Downtown Kingston as Jim stated. Early departure from Kingston Mills, only to meet the Kawartha Voyageur coming back up for his Kingston to Ottawa cruise. This year we made the 10:00 am bridge lift at Kingston, which was only to confirm Jim's warning that the Confed boats don't leave until their 11:00 am check out time, so we had to wait while they figured out where to put us all and meant we are not all docked close to each other.
We have at least met up with Bryan and Chris now, so the whole gang is here.

The rest of the day we all did our own things, such as shopping, lunching, visiting or fixing things.

The day ended with all 11 of us having a great meal at The Keg.
Been short  on the photos so far this year, however they will start coming soon as we head to our main destination of Prince Edward County.

Prepare for Changes

The plan was to make Upper Brewers today. All started well with our arrival at Davis Lock and we were the only three boats to lock through. As we approached Jones Falls, Jim and Cathie were just in time to fit in the lock for the trip down. Bob, Rachel and ourselves had to take the blue line, and they were not going to do a double lock down, so the only solution was to go for ice cream.
As we waited for the flight up, the Kawartha Voyageur arrived and took the next flight down, and this time we were able to get a double locking down. With the winds picking up, the clouds darkening and the day getting short and there was no way we were going to make the Brass Point Bridge last swing, so the executive decision was made to take dock space at Hotel Kenney. An excellent change in plans as we had a great dinner at the Hotel and had a good time.
Wonderful sunset tonight, so if the saying is true we should have great weather tomorrow.

Terry and Linda have caught up to us and are staying the night at the Hotel Kenney docks also.
Tomorrow the four boats are heading to Kingston Mills and then into Kingston on Wednesday.
Just hope we don't get caught up in the Kawartha's schedule.

First Group Travel Day

After what looked liked like a bad weather day, in fact turned out to be quite pleasant. All three boats made into our first lock at the Narrows, then Newboro then finally Chaffey's where we locked  through with the new British Connection, Phil and Caroline. After Chaffey's we detoured up into Opinicon Lake to a favourite anchorage. Once settled, in for a swim, happy hour then dinner.

Should be a great night for sleeping and looking forward to listening to the loons serenading us to sleep.

Tomorrow should be an easy run to Morton's Bay

Starting down the Rideau

Jim and Cathie arrived 18:30 on Saturday to Nobles Bay.
We are all gathered now for the trip down the Rideau to Kingston.
A little rainy and overcast this morning, but seems to be clearing now.
With the shorter lock hours and the volume of QC boats we decided to head out on Sunday morning instead of Monday this year.

Summer Vacation 2013

Today starts our summer vacation for 2013.
Friday will be maintenance day as we check oils, batteries, water and ships stores.

This years adventure includes the same gang as last year. Jim and Cathie aboard Holidaze, Bob and Rachel aboard I Dock'd R and Bryan and Chris aboard Lionheart.
Our best intentions this year is to circumnavigate Prince Edward County Island.
Starting with Jim and Cathy meeting us in Nobles Bay on the Big Rideau, we will travel down the Rideau River to Kingston for a couple of nights stay before heading out into Lake Ontario to Waupoos (an aboriginal name for rabbit). There we hope to visit some wineries, enjoy some fine dining and maybe even a game of golf. Next on the trip should be West Lake of the Sand Banks Provincial Park, Murray Canal, Belleville, Napanee, Picton, Prinyers Cove and towards the end maybe a side trip to Clayton USA.

Hopefully we stay internet connected through the whole trip so we can post stories and pictures  or our adventures.
