It was only a 2 hour drive to New Orleans from Mobile and we arrived to great rooms at the Dalphine Hotel right in the heart of the French Quarter, one street over from Bourbon Street. After a short walk around the Quarter we headed to the Felix Restaurant for a great meal, then headed out for some night life and music at the Drinkery and for Beignets in the courtyard.
The next day started off with a nice breakfast, which featured Kentucky Bourbon in our orange juice.
Before lunch we took in the Cemetery #1 Tour, which was both informative and creepy. We got to see the tomb of Marie Laveau who was the Queen of VooDoo, and the pyramid tomb that will be for Nicolas Cage.
The afternoon was spent walking around the French Quarter and visiting all there is too see, including the Preservation Jazz Hall
The evening we took the haunted night tour, and saw the Touchdown Jesus on the dueling field and learnt about Romeo Spikes on the Veranda poles.
Dinner that night was at the Gumbo Shop for some Creole food. The evening walk along Bourbon Street was certainly something to witness
All in all it was an amazing time in NOLA.
