Oct 4-6 - Cumberland River To Green Turtle Bay

Departing Towhead we had a nice mist on the water.  The water was still nice and warm but the early morning air is quite cool. The Cumberland was a nice winding river to the Barkley Lock & Dam. Unfortunately we had a 3 hour wait at the dam for our lock transit.

Green Turtle Bay Marina and Resort on Barkley Lake was our destination. This is a large Looper stop for most. We enjoyed dinner at the Thirsty Turtle the first night. Our second day we obtained the loner van from the marina and with David and Susan went on a grocery/liquor/hardware store run. The next day we teamed up with Out of the Blue (Bob & Pam) and Endeavour (Tim& Phyllis) for a tour of the Land Between the Lakes. This included a run through the Bison and Elk Park, the Planetarium and the 1880's Homestead Park.

Dinner the third night was at Patti's 1880's Settlement Restaurant. They are famous for their 2" thick Pork Chops and Lemon Meringue pies. Funny story here is we could not get served wine since we did not have our ID's with us. The village here only became wet three years ago and apparently the ordinance states they must see ID no matter what the age of the customer is. A little disappointing we were not informed before we went. However the meal was delicious.
