June 16/22 - Killbear

From Three Finger Bay we cruised to Parry Sound for a few supplies. From there a short trip through Hole in the Wall to Killbear Provincial Park, Kilcoursie Bay for the night. Winds are picking up for the next few days so we will stay just the one night and head over to Franklin Island early Friday morning and into Regatta Bay

June 14/22 - Three Finger Bay

Well we are finally heading northward on Georgian Bay. After a nice week around Beausoleil Island, we have travelled to the picturesque Massassauga Provincial Park in the San Souci area. We are anchored for a few days in Three Finger Bay to enjoy the sun and water.

June 4 Queens Cove

Had a great send off party with the members of H Dock here at Queens Cove Marina. Wind is a little high this Saturday morning, so delaying departure until Sunday morning.

Going to miss this great group of fellow boaters, but we will be back again in the future.

May 2022

So we are back at Queen's Cove Marina for another spring launch. It appears that COVID and Border Closure will not be an issue this summer. So come June we will leave the dock and head toward the North Channel for the summer. Should be crossing into the US about August 15th, then heading south on Lake Michigan.

June 2021

Well enough has already been said about COVID and Border Closures. So here we are in Victoria Harbour on Georgian Bay a year later and we are hopeful to restart the beginning of the Great Loop trip this year.

We have our first vaccine shot and should have our second by July 28th. Now we wait patiently for an announcement that the Border will open by no later than September 22nd so we will have sufficient time to travel down Lake Michigan and enter the canal system starting in Chicago.

For now we will continue to enjoy cruising the waters of Georgian Bay and the North Channel.

Stay tuned as we should be back to updating this blog during the summer months.

June 2020

As of June 1st, we have moved aboard full time, and the house is safe and secure under the watchful occupancy of Veronica and Shawn. Departed Huck's Marina on the morning of June 1st and have been anchoring about the Thousand Islands between Rockport and Gananoque for the past 15 days, with a night stay June 16th in Gananoque Marina to pump out, water up and a little grocery shopping.
We continue to wait for the Kingston Mills and Jones Falls Locks to open as they are delayed due to construction delays because of the COVID-19 situation.
We are planning to head up the Rideau to Newboro Lake to help my brother with his cottage build  this summer.
Beyond that we are still  looking at our options for heading south. If the border is reopened for September we will likely head south, although the Oswego Canal is also delayed in opening of some of their  locks with an expected  date of August 10th. Should going south no be possible, I believe we will need to look for winter storage again for this winter. Options are locally, or possibly Georgian Bay for heated storage. That decision will have to be made by mid August since we would have to travel the Trent Severn Canal to get there. For now we will  enjoy the summer and see what happens.
No pictures right now as we have been busy organizing the boat and all the gear we have on board to make ourselves comfortable and everything somewhat accessible.
